Training
The BCCSA offers NO training for Concrete Pump Operators. One of the conditions for a valid certification is that the training organization cannot examine the candidates. Concrete Pump Safety Training is offered by Concrete BC, who sell a Safety Training Manual which is a useful tool for owner and operator training purposes. They also offer sessions delivered by experienced pump owners and operators.
Please contact Concrete BC for details on upcoming sessions and the purchase of the Safety Training Manual. The Operating Engineers offer classroom-based instruction for pump operators, leading to journeyman and trade accreditation. Note that their Written Examinations, delivered by the training organization, are not valid for competency certification designations.
The American Concrete Pump Association has online information and tools for Concrete Pump Operators to help them prepare for their training. Their online examination is not valid for meeting the competency certification requirements.
No mandatory training period is required before you can be assessed – but obviously training on the job or in a class will help you become competent. You can take whatever route to competence suits you best – formal training, on job-mentorship and self-study. The choice is yours to suit your situation best while learning.
